the new instant film GOAT! new emulsion polaroid monochrome 600 review
Polaroid recently unveiled their new black and white emulsion for the 600 film line up. I put it through its paces to see how it works in real life scenarios. It is giving great quality without the cost and risk of pack film.

    RIBSY! I watched this before I bought mine. Did you know Davy Crockett Used one of these Yashica cameras during the siege of the Alamo in 1836!? Using just one roll of Kodak Eastman 5222 black and white 35mm motion picture film he shot enough sprocket holes to stave off General Santa Anna and his army of 2000 men for THIRTEEN DAYS! Thank you so much for sharing! More people need to learn about the Yashica and its rich AMERICAN history of nearly 200 years. Learn more in my new youtube short "the untold history of the Yashica Mat 124G" Been subbed and watching for a while. Love your stuff!

    You skipped the one step that i wanted to see. I want to see exactly how you figured out the exact number of spacers to use between the macro lens and the film holder. AND, what do you do if the all spacers are too thick and there is NO exact spot where you get the film frame to EXACTLY fill the frame of the sensor.

    One time I processed Agfa 200 chrome in c-41. I got results that were underexposed, but wild. I "hear" that to go this direction - e6 developed in c-41 - you should add a stop or two while exposing..... this builds up the contrast.

    I have been bothered by a question for quite some time. Can Polaroid black and white as well as color films, like Fujifilm films, preserve their colors for a long time without fading? I hope that the colors in my photos won't fade away, just like the memories they capture.

    I bought an Elan IIe in about 98, my first Canon. I shot Mamiya, Minolta, Yashica and Polaroid before that. I was amazed at the ease of use of that fine camera. I started picking up these Rebels when the price was next to nothing thinking they would be good for teaching with if I taught a photography class sometime. They are fine cameras and I think I still have all of them that I bought and have been given a couple more of them too. They are really light and fun to shoot. BTW if you want people to notice and compliment you, a TLR or old folding medium format is the way to go.

    But what about 4x5? that fuji 3000b is 4x5 or 3.3x4.25, so going by Polaroids prices even for 100$ is cheaper. Polaroids mono definitely not on the level of dynamic range as fuji's peel apart. That negative it produces is very high detail definitely miss shooting those packs used to cost only 20-30£.

    • @ribsy
      @ribsy 6 дней назад

      when you factor-in the risk of getting overly expired 3000b, there is no way to justify the price. For me, it’s a no brainer - I’ll take the decent performance and reasonable price of Polaroid, vs very risky likely bad performance expensive expired FP film. Polaroid has been working on the new color film for several years now. I'm hoping the jump in quality is significant like with the B&W film. The current formula has been about the same since about 2018/2019 other than slight alterations with the chemistry. Wow thanks for highlighting this. This is light years away from where that emulsion was a few years ago, it used to be almost impossible to not blow out the sky. You nailed the photos of the parade, the fact that it got sky detail on the interior of that car is seriously impressive. Glad Polaroid keeps improving the chemistry!

    can't really compare it to peel-part and not mention that peel-apart gives you a negative as well as your instant print... that said, very exciting to see a new BW emulsion from Polaroid!

      @@ribsy Well, I could always put an ND filter in front of the lens.
